ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

SETI Institute

Have you ever looked up at the stars at night and wondered if there might be other intelligent life out there in the universe? Well, the SETI Institute is a group of scientists who are dedicated to trying to answer that question.

SETI stands for "Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence". The scientists at the institute use special tools and methods to try to find out if there are any signs of extraterrestrial life in the universe.

One way they do this is by listening for radio signals. They use powerful radios to scan the skies for any signals that might be coming from another planet or star system. These signals could be messages sent by intelligent beings, which would be very exciting to discover!

Another way scientists at the SETI Institute search for extraterrestrial life is by studying planets outside of our own solar system. They look for planets that might be in the so-called "habitable zone", where the conditions might be just right for life to exist.

Scientists have been searching for signs of extraterrestrial life for many years, and the SETI Institute is one of the largest organizations dedicated to this task. They believe that discovering other intelligent life in the universe would be one of the biggest scientific discoveries of all time, so they work hard every day to try to make it happen.
