SS Edmund Fitzgerald

The SS Edmund Fitzgerald was a big ship that carried things like iron ore across the great big lakes in North America. It was really important because it helped get important materials from one place to another.

One day in November in 1975, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald was sailing across Lake Superior when a big storm came along. The storm was very big and very strong with lots of wind and waves. The ship tried to sail through the storm but unfortunately, it couldn't make it.

The ship started to shake and tip over in the big waves, and soon it sank down to the bottom of the lake. Unfortunately, all the people on board the ship also went down with it, so it was a really sad accident.

There are many theories about what caused the ship to sink, but nobody knows for sure. All we know is that it was a really big tragedy and people still remember it today.
