ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

SSRI discontinuation syndrome

Okay kiddo, so SSRI is a medicine that helps people feel better when they are sad or depressed. But when someone stops taking this medicine suddenly, it can cause them to feel some weird things, like being dizzy, having headaches, feeling really anxious or even very sad. This happens because the brain is used to having the medicine to help balance its chemicals, and when it suddenly doesn't have it, it gets all confused and has to learn how to balance on its own again. It's kind of like taking training wheels off a bike - it takes some time to get used to and feel okay without them. But don't worry, grown-ups know how to handle this and can help with making the transition easier.
