Saab Direct Ignition

Saab Direct Ignition is a way for an engine to start and run without a traditional spark plug. Instead of using spark plugs to ignite the air/fuel mixture that powers your engine, the system uses a uniquely shaped piston to create a spark. When the piston goes up and down in the cylinder, it rubs against something called an ignition coil. This coil then takes the energy from the piston and makes it into a spark, which then ignites the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder. This ignition system is more efficient and reliable than a traditional spark plug and makes your car easier to start and run.
