ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Salat

Salat is an Islamic religious practice where Muslims take time out of their day to pray—to talk with and thank Allah (God). Salat is done five times a day and includes saying special words in Arabic and doing specific movements like bowing and standing. Muslims believe that Allah has asked them to do salat as a way of showing respect for Him. Salat is also a way for Muslims to connect with Allah and learn more about Islam. They believe that by praying regularly, they will be closer to Allah and enjoy His grace and protection in their lives.
