Sample mean

The sample mean is a way for us to get a quick idea about what the average of a set of numbers is. When we tell you the sample mean of a set of numbers, it means that we have added up all the numbers in the set and then divided that number by the total amount of numbers in the set. For example, if the set of numbers is 4, 5, and 7, then the sample mean would be (4 + 5 + 7) / 3 = 5.67. This means that the average of 4, 5, and 7 is 5.67.
