ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Saxon shore

Okay kiddo, so the Saxon Shore was a place a long long time ago in the 4th century. It was a coastal area in England that was really important because people were worried about bad guys called Saxons attacking from across the sea. So the Romans who were in charge of England at the time built some special forts and walls along the coast to try and keep the Saxons out.

These forts and walls were pretty cool because they were made of really strong stone, and some of them even had towers where soldiers could keep watch for enemies. The soldiers who lived in these forts were also really brave because they had to protect the people living in England from any Saxons who might try to invade.

But eventually the Romans left England and the Saxons did invade, so the Saxon Shore became a part of history. But we can still go and visit some of the old forts and walls that they built back then which is pretty neat!
