Scarsella (architecture)

Okay, so you know how when you get a cut or a scrape, your body heals itself but sometimes there's still a mark there? That mark is called a scar.

Now imagine a big building. Sometimes buildings can get damaged, like they might get hit by something or there might be a fire. When that happens, the people who built the building might have to fix it up and make it look like it did before. But sometimes, even after they fix it, you can still see where the damage was. That's because the "scars" from the damage are still there.

In architecture, when someone talks about scarsella, they're talking about those marks on a building that show where something was fixed or damaged. Sometimes people think those scars make a building look interesting or give it character.
