Schiaparelli EDM
Schiaparelli EDM is a fancy name for a space robot that was sent to Mars to check out the place and gather information. In simple terms, it was like sending a special toy to Mars that would explore and learn about the planet.
The toy had some cool features like it could take pictures and measure things like temperature and wind speed. Scientists could then use that information to learn more about Mars and what it's like.
The toy was named after an Italian astronomer named Schiaparelli who was one of the first people to study Mars a long time ago.
The toy was able to land on Mars all by itself, which is pretty impressive. It used a parachute to slow down as it landed and then it used special rockets to lower itself gently onto the planet. Kind of like a superhero landing.
Unfortunately, the toy had some problems when it arrived on Mars and it wasn't able to do all the cool stuff that scientists had planned for it. But that's the way science goes sometimes, and we'll just have to try again with a better toy next time!
