Sears Modern Homes

Sears Modern Homes were houses that people could buy from the Sears, Roebuck and Co. catalog many, many years ago. Sears was a big store that sold lots of things, like clothes and tools, but they also sold houses! These houses were special because they came in pieces and the people who bought them had to put them together like a big puzzle.

The houses were made with wood and had different styles, like traditional or modern. They even had different sizes, from small houses to big houses. The people who bought these houses got a lot of pieces that they had to put together, like puzzle pieces. The pieces had instructions on how to put them together, kind of like when you follow instructions to build a Lego set.

But why did people buy these houses from a catalog and put them together themselves? Well, it was much cheaper than buying a house from a builder who would make it for you. Plus, the people who bought these Sears Houses felt really proud of themselves for building their own house.

So, Sears Modern Homes were special because they were houses that people could buy from a catalog and put together themselves like a big puzzle!
