ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Seat of honor

So, you know how sometimes you go to a party or a fancy dinner, and there's a really special seat at the table that everyone tries to get? That's called the seat of honor!

The seat of honor is usually the one that's in the best spot at the table, like at the head or in the middle. Some people might think it's extra special because it's the seat that the host or hostess would sit in, and they're the ones who invited everyone.

Getting to sit in the seat of honor can be a really big deal, because it shows that you're important and respected. But sometimes, people might take turns sitting in it so that everyone gets a chance to feel special.

So, the seat of honor is really just a way of showing respect and making someone feel important by giving them the best spot at the table.
