Secession

Secession is when an area of a country breaks away, or separates, from the rest of the country and they become their own separate country. It's like if you have a group of friends and then one of them who wants to do their own thing and they decide they don't want to be part of the group anymore, so they go their separate way and do their own thing. That is kind of like secession.
