Second Buddhist Council

Okay kiddo, so you know how Buddhism is a religion that a lot of people believe in? Well, a really long time ago, there were some important people who gathered together to talk about how they think Buddhism should be practiced.

That big gathering is called the second Buddhist council. At this meeting, the people talked about how they thought the teachings of Buddha should be understood and followed. They even argued about some things!

One of the things they argued about was the monks who were breaking the rules of Buddhism. Some people thought that these monks should be allowed to stay in the religion, but others thought they should be kicked out.

In the end, they came to some agreements and made some rules about how Buddhism should be practiced. And even though people still have different opinions about it sometimes, those rules and agreements are still important for people who practice Buddhism.
