ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Secret law

Hey there kiddo! So, have you ever heard of a secret law? Let me explain it to you in a way that’s easy to understand.

Well, we always follow some rules and laws, like brushing our teeth every day or wearing helmets while riding a bike. Similarly, people in charge, like the government or the police, also make rules and laws that we have to follow. These rules are written down in a book called a “Law Book” or “Constitution”.

But sometimes, the government or authorities may come up with some rules and laws that they don't want everyone to know about. They keep these rules secret, and we don't know what they are because they’re not written down in the law books! These secret rules are called “secret laws” or “classified laws”.

For example, let's say a secret law is made that says you can't play in the park after 5 PM. But since this law is a secret, nobody knows about it, and you may unknowingly break the law if you play in the park after 5 PM.

Secret laws are not fair because nobody knows about them, and they can punish people who didn't even know they were breaking the law. That's why it's essential to have open and transparent rules, which everyone knows and can follow.

So, remember kiddo, a secret law is a rule that the authorities don't want us to know, and it’s important to follow the laws we know about and keep an eye on any secret ones!
