ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Selective exposure theory

Selective exposure theory is a way of explaining why people might choose to only listen to opinions or information that they already agree with. It means people might go out of their way to only hear ideas that align with their own beliefs and avoid hearing from people with different points of view. For example, someone who likes a certain politician might only watch shows that talk about that politician, or follow blogs and websites that share information about them. They might ignore any criticism or negative news about the politician.
