Self-contained system (software)

A self-contained system (software) is a type of computer program that can run on its own without any other programs or external input. It runs on the computer's own resources (such as RAM, CPU or storage) and can do its job without help from other programs or outside sources. For example, a web browser is a self-contained system because it can stand alone, run on its own and open a web page without needing any extra help.
