Self-destruct

Okay kiddo, so have you ever seen in movies, when they show something exploding or going boom or disappearing completely? Well, that's called self-destruct.

Self-destruct is when something is programmed or designed to destroy itself on purpose. It's like when you draw a picture with a crayon and then you decide to erase it by rubbing it with an eraser.

The reason things have self-destruct sequences sometimes is to keep information or secrets safe. If something important falls into the wrong hands, it can be dangerous. So, instead of letting them get their grubby paws all over it, the thing will blow up or remove itself so that no one can use it against anyone else.

It's kind of like if you have a secret toy that you don't want anyone else to play with, and you end up breaking it or throwing it away so nobody can take it from you. It sounds kind of scary, but it's actually a good thing in certain situations because it helps protect things that are important.
