Selk'nam genocide

Okay kiddo, a long time ago, there were some people who lived in a place called Tierra del Fuego, which is at the bottom of South America. These people were called the Selk'nam and they had been living there for a long, long time.

Now, some other people came along and they wanted to take over the land where the Selk'nam lived. These people were from Europe and they wanted the land for themselves. They didn't care that the Selk'nam had been living there for generations.

So, the newcomers started doing really mean things to the Selk'nam. They would steal their land, make them leave their homes, and even kill them. They also brought new diseases that made many Selk'nam people very sick and die.

Eventually, there were hardly any Selk'nam people left. They had been forced off their land and killed by the newcomers. It was a really sad and unfair thing that happened. That's what we now call the Selk'nam Genocide - it means that a lot of people were killed on purpose just because of who they were and where they lived.
