ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Semi-postal

Okay kiddo, have you ever mailed a letter to someone who lives far away from you? Well, sometimes the people who run the mail system in a country come up with a special stamp that helps raise money for important things like helping sick people or animals, or helping the environment. This special stamp is called a "semi-postal" stamp.

Now, you might be wondering, "What does 'semi-postal' mean?" Well, the normal stamps you might use to mail a letter just pay for the cost of sending it from one place to another. But a semi-postal stamp does more than that. It costs a little bit more than a regular stamp and that extra bit of money goes towards helping those important causes we talked about.

So basically, when you use a semi-postal stamp, you're not only sending your letter to your friend or family member, but you're also helping to do something good for the world. Pretty cool, huh?
