ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sender Rewriting Scheme

Sender Rewriting Scheme (SRS) is a way of making sure emails get to the right place. When you send an email, it has your address in it so the recipient knows where to send the response back to. But if the recipient gets emails from lots of different places (ex. a business who has lots of people working for them, or a website that has lots of members), they can't just look at the address to figure out who the email is going to.

SRS takes care of this problem. It changes the address so it looks like it's coming from the website or business, and not from any of the people working there. That way, the emails will all go to the right place and the recipient will know who it's from.
