ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Separation axiom

Okay, sweetie! So let's say you have a really big, crowded room filled with lots of people. And imagine some of those people are really close to each other, like they're touching or standing really close together. It might be hard to see who's who or move around without bumping into others, right?

Now, imagine we have a rule called the "separation axiom." This rule says that no matter how many people are in the room or how close they're standing, we can always find a way to draw an imaginary line between any two people so that one person is on one side of the line and the other person is on the other side. Think of it like a big game of Red Rover, where everyone is holding hands but we can still find a way to break through the line.

So why is this separation axiom important? Well, it helps us study and understand things like math and geometry. We can use this rule to make sure that things are organized and make sense, even if they seem really chaotic at first. It's like having a rulebook for a game - we need rules to make sure everyone can play fairly and have fun!
