Separation of church and state in Australia

Okay kiddo, so in Australia, we have something called separation of church and state. That basically means that the government and the laws they make shouldn't be influenced by any religion.

See, different people believe in different things. Some people believe in God or Allah, while others don't believe in anything at all. And that's okay because everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

But when it comes to the government and making laws, they need to be fair to everyone, no matter what they believe in. So, they don't take direction or guidance from any particular religion.

This also means that people who work for the government, like politicians or judges, are not allowed to let their religious beliefs affect their decisions or how they do their job.

So, in Australia, we keep religion and the government separate. That way, everyone is free to believe in and practice whatever religion they want without any interference from the government. Does that make sense, kiddo?
