Sertorian War
Okay kiddo, so long, long ago, there was a place called Rome, and it was really cool. But sometimes, people didn't agree on how things should be done in Rome, and they would fight about it.
One time, there was a guy named Sertorius who was a Roman general, but he didn't really like some of the guys in charge. So he went to a place called Spain and started his own little army there.
Sertorius was a really good general, and he made friends with some of the people who lived in Spain. He even learned how to speak their language, which was really cool.
Anyway, some of the guys back in Rome didn't like Sertorius doing his own thing, so they sent some other generals to go fight him. One of those generals was a guy named Pompey.
Pompey was also a really good general, but he had a lot more soldiers than Sertorius did. So Sertorius had to be really clever to win any battles against him.
One time, Sertorius had an idea to use some white deer to trick Pompey. He painted the deer white and had his soldiers chase them around, so Pompey would think they were Sertorius and his army. It worked, and Pompey was really confused.
But eventually, Pompey and his army were able to defeat Sertorius and his army. It was a really sad time for the people who lived in Spain, because Sertorius was really popular with them. But it was also a big moment for Rome, because it showed that they were really powerful and could defeat anyone who tried to go against them.
