ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Server log

Imagine you have a toy box where you keep all your toys. Whenever you play with a toy, you remember what you did with it, right? Well, a server log is like keeping track of all the things that happen when people use a big toy box called a server to play with a website or app on the internet.

Just like you might write down in a notebook or journal all the things you did in a day, a server log is a record of all the things that happen on a server in a day. It keeps track of who accessed the server, what they did, and when they did it.

Some examples of things that might be recorded in a server log are: when someone logs in, which pages they visit, what they search for, and what kind of device they use. This information is useful for website owners and app developers because they can use it to make improvements and fix problems. They can also use it to see how many people are using their website or app and where they are coming from.
