ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sessionization

Okay kiddo, have you ever gone to a store with your mom or dad and they give you a shopping basket to put all the things you want to buy inside? That basket is like a session.

Now imagine that you and your mom or dad go to a lot of different stores, and for each store, you get a new basket to put all the things you want to buy inside. That's what sessionization is like but on a website.

When you visit a website, the website gives you a "basket" called a session. Whatever you do on that website, like clicking different pages or adding things to your cart, will be remembered by that session. However, if you leave the website and come back later, you'll get a new session (or "basket") to start fresh from.

Sessionization helps websites keep track of what each person is doing on their website and make sure they don't mix up one person's activity with another. Just like how you wouldn't want someone else's things to accidentally end up in your shopping basket!
