ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Seventy-five-move rule

Okay kiddo, sometimes when people play a game called chess, they can get stuck in a spot where they keep moving the same pieces over and over again without making any progress. That's not very fun, right?

So, to make sure the game keeps moving forward and doesn't get stuck like that, there is a rule called the seventy-five-move rule. This means that if both players make seventy-five moves without any capture (when one player takes another player's piece) or pawn move, the game is declared a draw.

Basically, it's a way to keep the game fair and make sure that no one gets bored waiting for something to happen. Hope that helps!
