Sexual abuse and intellectual disability

Sexual abuse is when someone does something sexually to someone else without that person's permission or consent. It is wrong and can be very scary and damaging for the person who experiences it.

It's important to make sure that people with intellectual disability understand what their bodies are and what kinds of behaviors are not okay for someone else to do with them. It's also important to have systems in place to help protect them from abuse and to support them if they have been abused in the past.
