Sexual characteristics are the physical differences between boys and girls. When a baby is born, the doctors and parents can usually tell if it is a boy or a girl because of the sexual characteristics.
Boys have things called testicles that are inside their body. These testicles make a special kind of liquid called sperm that can make a girl pregnant. Boys also have something called a penis that sticks out from their body. When boys get older, they use their penis to pee and also to have sex with girls.
Girls have something called a vagina that is inside their body. It's like a tunnel that goes from the outside part of their body to the inside. Girls also have two little bumps on their chest that grow bigger as they get older. These bumps are called breasts, and they can be used to feed babies if the girl becomes a mom.
As boys and girls get older, their bodies start to change to look even more different. Boys will grow more hair on their face and body, and their voices might get deeper. Girls might start to get their period, which is a special time when blood comes out of their vagina for a few days each month. Both boys and girls might also start to feel different feelings like wanting to be close with someone else in a special way.
These are all normal things that happen as we grow up and become adults. And it's important to remember that everyone is different, and that's okay!
