Sexuality in India

Sexuality in India refers to how people in India express and experience their sexual desires, preference and orientation. Just like how we have different skin colour, hair and eye color, people can have different feelings when it comes to romantic or sexual attraction. Some people may feel attracted to the opposite sex, some to the same sex, some to both, some to no one at all, and all of these feelings are okay.

In India, there are still many cultural and religious traditions, conservative beliefs and taboos that influence how sexuality is perceived and talked about. This means, some people might not feel free or comfortable to discuss their sexuality openly, and may feel like they have to hide their true feelings.

Issues like caste, religion, gender, class, and age also play a role in shaping how people experience their sexuality in India. Discrimination, harassment or violence can happen to someone based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. This is not fair, and everyone should be treated with respect and kindness, regardless of who they are attracted to.

Today, there is a growing movement for equality and acceptance of all sexual orientations and gender identities in India. People are talking more publicly about the diversity of human experiences when it comes to sexuality, challenging certain cultural and social norms, and working to promote safety, health, and happiness for all individuals.
