ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Shao Yong

Shao Yong was a man who lived a long time ago in China. He was very smart and wrote lots of things about important ideas. One of the things he wrote about was called the "Book of Changes." This book taught people how to understand the world around them and how to make good decisions.

Shao Yong also believed in something called the "Doctrine of the Mean." This means that people should always try to be in the middle and not go too extreme in anything they do. For example, if you eat too much candy, you might get a tummy ache. But if you never eat candy at all, you might feel sad because you're missing out on something fun. So it's important to find a balance and not go too far in any direction.

Overall, Shao Yong was a very wise man who tried to help people live better lives. Many people in China still read and learn from his ideas today.
