ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Shark tourism

Shark tourism is when people go on trips to see and sometimes even swim with sharks in their natural habitat, like the ocean. When you watch a movie about sharks, you might be scared of them, but in real life, lots of people want to see them up close! It can be a really exciting way to learn about these big creatures and see them in their environment.

When people go on a shark tourism trip, they usually go out on a boat with a special guide, who knows all about sharks and can help keep the trip safe. They might take you to a place where lots of sharks live, and let you see them swimming around from a safe distance on the boat.

If you're really brave, you might be able to swim with sharks too! But before you do that you must listen and learn from your guide who explains to you about how to be safe and respect the sharks.

Shark tourism can also help to teach people about how important sharks are for the ocean and why it's important to protect them. It helps people realize that sharks aren't just scary monsters, but they're wild animals that have an important role to play in the ecosystem.
