Sherrington's law of reciprocal innervation

Sherrington's Law of Reciprocal Innervation is like taking turns on a swing set.

You know how when you're on a swing set, you have to push your legs to make yourself go up and when you want to stop, you have to stop pushing? Well, in your body, there are certain muscles that do the pushing and other muscles that do the stopping.

And just like when you're on a swing set, those muscles have to take turns too. So when one muscle pushes, the other muscle has to stop so that you don't swing too high and hit the person in front of you.

That's what Sherrington's Law means. It's like a rule that your body follows to make sure that the right muscles are pushing and stopping at the right time so that you can move properly without hurting yourself.
