Shibui

Shibui is a Japanese word that means “simple, subtle, and unobtrusive”. It’s used to describe things that are not overly showy, bright, or flashy but have a special beauty and elegance about them. For example, a shibui landscape may be a plain field of grass with a few trees, or a simple path meandering through it. Something shibui will be calm and quiet, adding substance but not taking away from the beauty of the surrounding environment.
