ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Shiny object syndrome

Shiny Object Syndrome is when someone gets distracted by things that catch their attention, just like when a shiny toy catches your eye and you forget what you were doing. For grown-ups, it can be things like new ideas, technology or business opportunities.

Sometimes these things seem really exciting and promise to make things better, but they can also distract you from what's important or waste time and money. It's like wanting to buy lots of things at a store just because they look nice, even if you don't really need them or they won't actually make you happy in the long run.

So it's important to be careful and think carefully about what you're spending your time and energy on, and make sure it stays focused on your goals and what's most important to you!
