Shrinathji

Shrinathji is a form of Hindu god Lord Krishna that is worshiped in India. Shrinathji's image is believed to have originated from a mountain called Govardhan in northern India.

Picture a statue of Shrinathji that looks like a small boy Krishna, it’s about the size of a person's torso with a head, arms, legs and a potbelly. The statue is very special and is treated like a real person by his devotees. Devotees believe that when they look at the statue, Shrinathji is looking back at them with love and compassion.

Shrinathji is considered to be a child deity and his followers believe that he needs to be taken care of like a real child. This includes feeding him, washing him, and putting him to sleep at night. Every day, Shrinathji is given fresh food, water, and new clothes to wear. Devotees also sing bhajans (religious songs) and play musical instruments to worship and entertain him.

One of the most significant festivals in Shrinathji's worship is Janmashtami, which is celebrated as Lord Krishna's birthday. Devotees fast during the day and break their fast only when Shrinathji's image is brought out for darshan (viewing) and worshipped.

Overall, Shrinathji is revered as a loving and playful deity who embodies the joy and innocence of childhood. Devotees believe that by worshiping and taking care of Shrinathji, they can attain his blessings and experience divine love and happiness.
