Shrinking city

So imagine you have a toy box with a lot of toys in it. But as you grow older, you start to lose interest in some of the toys and decide to get rid of them. It's kind of like that with a shrinking city.

So when a city starts to shrink, there will be empty buildings and fewer places to shop and eat. The city government will also have less money to spend on things like fixing roads or building new schools because there aren't as many people paying taxes.

It's important for the city to try to attract new people and businesses to come back, or else the city might keep getting smaller and smaller.
