ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Signal automaton

Have you ever played Simon Says or Follow the Leader? Just like how you follow the commands in those games, a signal automaton is a machine that follows certain rules to do things automatically.

Think of a traffic light at a crossroad. It has a set of signals that change color in a specific sequence. When the signal is green, it means you can go, and when it is red, you must stop. Similarly, a signal automaton has certain signals or inputs that it follows to do certain tasks.

For instance, a vending machine is a great example of a signal automaton. When you insert coins, it recognizes them and signals you to select a drink. When you make a selection, it signals the dispenser to release the drink, and when it's done, it signals you to take your drink and change.

In summary, a signal automaton is like a machine that follows a set of rules to do something automatically when it receives certain signals or inputs. Kinda like Simon Says, but with machines.
