Simit

Simit is a type of bread that comes from Turkey. It looks like a big circle with a hole in the middle, kind of like a donut! People really like to eat simit for breakfast or as a snack.

To make simit, first you take flour, yeast (which helps the bread rise), and some other ingredients like sugar or salt. You mix all the ingredients together with water and knead it really well. Kneading just means squishing and twisting the dough with your hands until it becomes smooth and stretchy.

After you knead the dough, you let it rest for a while so it can rise. This means that the yeast creates tiny bubbles in the dough which make it fluffy and soft. Then you take the dough and shape it into the big circle with the hole in the middle.

Before you bake the simit, you dip it in a mixture of molasses (which is a sweet syrup) and water. This gives simit its unique taste and also makes the outside a little bit chewy. Finally, you sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the simit and put it in the oven to bake.

Once it's all done, you can enjoy your delicious simit bread by pulling off pieces and eating it with some butter or jam. Yum!
