Simiyya

Hey there, sweetie! Today, we're going to learn about an interesting musical instrument called the simiyya.

The simiyya is a special kind of guitar that comes from Egypt. It's a lot like regular guitars that you might have seen before, but it has a different shape and sound.

The body of the simiyya is made out of a gourd, which is a big, round fruit that grows on vines. The gourd is cut in half and hollowed out, then a flat wooden board is attached to the top. This board has six strings stretched across it, kind of like a regular guitar.

When you play the simiyya, you pluck the strings with your fingers or a pick. The sound it makes is very unique and beautiful. People in Egypt have been playing the simiyya for hundreds of years, and it's still used today in religious ceremonies and musical performances.

So there you have it, kiddo! The simiyya is like a special guitar made out of a fruit, and it sounds really pretty when you play it. Maybe one day you'll get to hear it for yourself!
