ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Simming

Simming is like playing pretend, but with more rules. When you play pretend, you might pretend to be a doctor or a firefighter or a princess, and you might make up your own story as you go along. In simming, you usually have a pre-determined story or world that you play in, and you have rules for what your character can and can't do.

For example, in a Sims game, you might create your own Sim (a little person) and control what they do, like eating, sleeping, and going to work. You might also control what happens to them, like if they get married or have a baby. But there are rules to follow - Sims have needs, like hunger and hygiene, that you have to take care of, or they'll get sad or sick. And you have to earn money to buy things, like food and furniture, so you can't just do whatever you want without consequences.

In other types of simming, you might role-play (pretend to be someone else) in a certain setting, like a medieval castle or a spaceship. You might have specific tasks or goals to accomplish, and you might be part of a group of people who are all playing together.

Overall, simming is a way to immerse yourself in a different world or story, and have fun playing with rules and goals.
