The Simon–Ehrlich wager is a bet made by two scientists, Hermann Simon and Paul Ehrlich. It was made in 1980, when Hermann said that resources would become more plentiful and Paul said resources would become rarer over the next decade. The bet was that Paul would pick five resources, which he thought would become more expensive, and Hermann would give him money if the prices of those resources went up by the end of the decade. Hermann won the bet, because the prices of the resources decreased or stayed the same.
