ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Simone Handbag Museum

Okay kiddo, have you heard about handbags? Yes, those cute little or big bags that you see your mom, aunt or grandma carrying around. Girls and women use them to keep their money, phone or other stuff safe and handy.

Now imagine a whole museum filled with handbags of all shapes, sizes, colors and designs from different eras and countries. That's what the Simone Handbag Museum is all about.

Simone is a lady who loves handbags and has collected over 3000 of them from around the world over the past two decades. She wanted to share her passion with others and opened the museum in Seoul, South Korea in 2012.

The museum has different floors or levels, each showcasing a different theme or period of handbags. For example, you can see handbags from ancient Egypt, Greece, China or Rome that were made of leather, metal, beads or even crocodile skin.

You can also see handbags that were popular in the 19th or 20th century, such as clutch bags, shoulder bags, purse bags, backpacks, and even famous designer bags like Chanel, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent or Gucci.

Some of the bags are so old and unique that you won't find them anywhere else. They tell a story about the fashion, culture and lifestyle of the people who used them. You can learn a lot about history and art just by looking at them.

The museum also has interactive exhibits, workshops, and a gift shop where you can buy replica bags or souvenirs. You can spend hours wandering around the museum and admiring the beauty of these bags.

So if you ever visit Seoul, don't forget to ask your mommy or daddy to take you to the Simone Handbag Museum. You might even find your own favorite handbag there!
