ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Singh

"Singh" is a name many Sikh people have. Have you heard of Sikhs? They are people who follow a religion called Sikhism, which started a very long time ago in India. Sikhs believe in one God and they try to be good people by being honest, helping others, and doing good deeds.

One way Sikhs show that they are part of their religion is by adding the name "Singh" to their own name. It means "lion" and reminds them to be strong and brave like a lion. It also helps them feel connected to other Sikhs who also have the name Singh.

So if you meet someone with the last name Singh, they might be a Sikh person who is proud of their religion and the values it teaches them.
