Single-letter second-level domains

Hey there kiddo! Have you ever heard your mommy or daddy talk about website addresses? Well, you know how a website has a name like "Google" and then it has ".com" at the end? That ".com" thing is called a domain name. Sometimes, people can have a really short and simple domain name, like "q.com".

These short and simple domain names are called single-letter second-level domains. They are really popular because they are easy to remember and can be quite valuable. But, not just anybody can have one of these domain names. They are usually reserved for big and important companies, governments, and organizations.

In fact, there are only 26 single-letter second-level domains available, because there are only 26 letters in the alphabet. Each letter can only be used once, so only one company or organization can have a domain name like "a.com" or "b.com".

So, if you ever see a website address with just one letter before the ".com", you know it's a really special and important website!
