ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Single-subject rule

The single-subject rule is a fancy name for a rule that says when someone is making a law, they have to make it about just one thing at a time. It's like when you're playing with toys and your mom says you can only play with one toy at a time because it's too hard to keep track of what's happening when you have lots of toys going at once.

So basically, when lawmakers are writing a law, they have to stick to one topic at a time because it's easier to understand and make decisions about that way. This helps prevent confusion and makes it easier for people to know what's going on and what the law means. It's like trying to read a story where every paragraph is about something totally different - it would be really hard to understand what was going on or why things were happening!

So, the single-subject rule is just a way to keep things organized and make it easier for everyone to understand what's happening when new laws are made.
