Skew arch

Okay, so imagine you have a really long piece of string. If you lay it flat on the ground, it would just make a straight line, right? But what if you tried to make the string curve to connect two points that aren't straight across from each other, like two corners of a square? That's kind of what a skew arch is.

Instead of being a nice, even curve, a skew arch is kind of lopsided. It's like if you tried to draw a circle, but your hand slipped and it came out kind of wonky. But even though it looks kind of funny, the skew arch is actually really strong and can hold up a lot of weight.

People use skew arches to make bridges and other things that need to be really strong and also look cool. Even though it might seem tricky to figure out how to make one, engineers and architects are really good at making things like skew arches work perfectly.
