Social engineering (security)

Social engineering (security) is a way of tricking people into giving away sensitive information, such as passwords or bank information. It happens when a bad person pretends to be someone you trust, like a bank or family member, and asks you to give them your information. Once they have that information, they can use it to do bad things like steal money or cause harm. To protect yourself, it's important to never give away sensitive information online or over the phone unless you know who you are giving it to and you trust them.
