Software metering

Software metering is a way to keep track of how computer programs, or pieces of software, are being used. It works like this: when someone wants to use a program, the software metering system will take note of who is using it, the date and time it was used, how much of it was used, and sometimes what parts of the program were used. This information helps people understand how the program is being used and if it is working properly. It can also help keep people from using too much of the program so that everyone can share it and get their fair use out of it.
