ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sojourners

Sojourners are people who are traveling and staying in a place that is not their permanent home. Just like when you go on vacation to another city or country with your family, you become a sojourner in that place.

Imagine you are going to stay with your cousin who lives in another city. You would be a sojourner in that city because it's not your home, and you are only staying for a short time.

Some people become sojourners for work, to study, or just to explore new places. They usually live in this new place for some time but will eventually go back to their permanent home.

Like when your mom goes out of town for work and she stays in a hotel. For that moment, she is a sojourner because even though she is not at home, she still needs a place to live like when you sleepover at your friend's house, you're only there for a little while, but you still need a place to sleep.

Being a sojourner can be exciting because you get to experience new things, meet different people and learn about different cultures, but it can also be challenging because you are in a new place, and you may not know anyone or the area well.
