Sole Survivor Policy

The sole survivor policy is a rule that some countries have in their military where they prioritize the return home of soldiers who are the last surviving member of their family. This means that if a soldier has lost all their siblings, parents, and other close relatives in combat, they would be given the option of going home early from their duty. The idea is to prevent the complete destruction of a family and to give a chance for one member to continue the family's lineage.

Imagine you have a big family with lots of siblings, parents, and grandparents. Now imagine that one of your siblings goes to war and unfortunately, they get hurt or die while fighting. It would be really sad for your family, but you still have other siblings, parents, and grandparents to comfort each other. But if your whole family joined the military and went to war, and only one person survived, they would feel really alone and sad without anyone else to support them.

That's why some countries have a rule called the sole survivor policy. This rule says that if someone in the military loses all their close family members in the war, they can choose to come back home early. It's like an extra protection just in case a whole family gets wiped out by war.
